3053.----- [RUHRCHEMIE, A. G.] [Process for Preparing Stable Hard Paraffin-Water Emulsions Suitable as Polishing Waxes.] German Patent Appl. R 109,184, R 549, filed Dec. 6, 1941 (Cl. 22 g-6.02). TOM Reel 39, bag 5,453, item 1, 5 pp.; meyer Transl. PC-S-IV, Wax oxidation. vol.2, chap. 23, 1949, p. 17.

Paraffin mixtures with a m. p. of 85° or more, such as are obtained in the catalytic hydrogenation of CO, are emulsified with the addition of alkali salts of carboxylic acids, the free acids of which are obtained from the paraffins m. 40°-65° by oxidation with chromsulfuric acid or nitrosylsulfuric acid or nitrous gases in the presence of nitrosylsulfuric acid. To the emulsion are added free carboxylic acids or esters, the acid components of which are obtained from the paraffins m. > 85° by oxidation with chromsulfuric acids, nitro-sylsulfuric acids or nitrous gases in presence of nitro-sylsufuric acids.
