3050.----- [RUHRCHEMIE, A. G.]  [Process for Preparing Highly Active Aromatization Catalysts.]  German Patent Appl. R 104,875, filed mar. 24, 1939 (Cl. IV d-23 b).  TOM Reel 412, bag 2,744, item 14, 3 pp.

In preparing highly active aromatization catalysts,  consisting of Al2O3 and other metal oxides such as Cr2O3, an Al2O3 is used.  After precipitation the Al2O3 is thoroughly and repeatedly washed until the final wash H2O shows a pH of less than 9, preferably 8.3-8.5.  The Al2O3 may be precipitated from an alkali-aluminate solution other than Na aluminate.  A mixture of aliphatic hydrocarbons b. 80°-200° obtained from the Fischer-Tropsch synthesis was passed in vapor state over a catalyst prepared in this manner consisting of 2 parts Al2O3 and 1 part Cr2O3 in granules of size 1-3 mm.  The temperature was 450°.-500°.  The reaction  product contained as much as 40 vol. % of aromatics.
