3040. ----- [RUHRCHEMIE, A. G.]  [Process for Obtaining Pure Alcohols.]  German Patent Appl. --, R 601, filed Jan. 27, 1942.  FIAT Reel K-30, frames 7,728-7,729; PB 73,587:  TOM Reel 36, bag 3,454, item 36; Meyer Transl. PC-S-V, Oxo, vol. 1, chap. 4, 1948, p. 9.

This is an addition to German Patent Appl. R 106,852 (abs. 3158) for the production of pure oxygenated derivatives of aliphatic hydrocarbons.  In direct production of alcohols by catalytic action of water gas on mixtures containing olefins, chiefly those having mean b. ranges 150°-350°, a separation of the mixture into 2 or more fraction takes place before the reaction with water gas begins.  The highest boiling fraction has a lower boiling point than the lowest boiling reaction product.
