3038. ----- [RUHRCHEMIE, A. G.]  [Process for Obtaining Olefinic Hydrocarbons by the Catalytic Hydrogenation of Carbon Monoxide.]  German Patent Appl. --, R-729, filed Dec 2, 1944.  TOM Reel 36, bag 3,454, item 27, 3 pp.

Small amounts (0.5-5 gm.  per N m.3 of synthesis gas) of organic acids such as formic or acetic acids are added to the synthesis gas.  Example: 10 N 1. of a synthsis gas consisting of 4 vol. % N2; 7, CO2; 39, CO; and 50, H2 to which had been added 0.5-1.5 gm. formic acid per N m. 3 were passed hourly at 200°-300° and 9 atm. over 100 cc. of an Fe catalyst consisting of 100 parts Fe: 5, Cu; 10, CaO; and 50, kieselguhr.  A CO + H2 conversion of 65% was attained.  The CH4 formation did not exceed 3-5%. 30% of the liquid synthesis products boiled up to 200°, 24% 200°-300° and 46% > 320°.  80% of the olefins were in the fraction b. up to 200°, 70-75% in the fraction 200°-320° and only small amounts > 320°.
