3031. ----- [RUHRCHEMIE, A. G.]  [Process for Increasing the Yield of Oxygenated Products in the Catalytic Hydrogenation of Carbon Monoxide Under Pressure.]  German Patent Appl. R 113,885, R 629, filed Aug. 27, 1942 (Cl. IV d-12 o).  FIAT Reel K-30, frames 7,633-7,634’ {B 73,587; TOM Reel 177, frames 1,464-1,465; TOM Reel 36, bag 3,454, item 36; Meyer Transl. PC-S-II.  Fischer-Tropsch, vol. 1, chap. 1, 1948 p. 1.

Synthesis gas (1 CO : 2 H2) containing 5-7% of C2H2 is passed over a Co-ThO2 kieselguhr catalyst under a gas pressure of 5 atm., a temperature of 175°-200° and at a rate of 1 1. of synthesis gas per gm. of Co per hr.  The synthesis product has a d.20 of 0.782, a boiling range up to 175°, I number 50, CO number 63, OH number 69, saponification number 35, distilling 5 % at 96°, 50 at 175°, and 90% at 300°.  An analysis showed aldehydes and ketones 15 vol. %, alcohols 15, acids 3, esters 2, and hydrocarbons 65.  The oxygenated compounds contained virtually no olefins, the 150°-300° fraction 23%.  Addition to German patent Appl. R 109,774 (abs. 3209)
