3017.  ------.  [RUHRCHEMIE A. G.]  [Process for Converting Unsaturated Hydrocarbon Compounds, Particularly Olefins to Oxo Compounds or Their Reaction Products.]  German Patent Appl. --, R 598, filed Dec 30, 1941.  TOM Reel 36, bag 3,454, item 36, 2 pp.; Meyer Transl. PC-S-V, Oxo, vol. 1, chap. 3, 1948, p. 7.

Unsaturated hydrocarbons, particularly olefins, are treated at elevated temperature and pressure with metal carbonyls and H2 or gases containing it.  The metal carbonyl before use is dissolved or suspended in the charge and then the H2 under high pressure and thorough stirring is passed through.  The reaction is suitably carried out under 20-200 atm. pressure and at temperatures of about 50°-250°.  The reaction takes place rapidly with good yields.  If desired, CO can be mixed with the H2 with a corresponding saving of the carbonyl.
