      3013.  ------.  [RUHRCHEMIE A. G.]  [Process for Converting Aldehydes Into Carboxylic Acids.]  German Patent Appl. R 111,181, R 596, filed Oct. 6, 1941 (Cl. IV d-12 o).  FIAT Reel K-22, frames 1,219-1,221 A: TOM Reel 36, bag 3,454, item 36, 7 pp.; Meyer Transl. PC-S-V, Oxo, vol. 1, chap. 2, 1948, p. 3.

In converting aldehydes into carboxylic acids by oxidation with O2 or gases containing it, the oxidation takes place in presence of hydrocarbons at normal or increased temperature up to 100°.  The aldehydes or the aldehyde mixtures subject to oxidation are diluted with hydrocarbons to 10-30% of aldehydes.  The oxidation is performed by thoroughly stirring a mixture of aldehydes, hydrocarbons, and powdered, solid, basic substance, such as calcined soda with air or other O2-containing gas.
