2977. ----- [RUHRCHEMIE, A. G.]  [Method for the Catalytic performance of Gasoline Synthesis From Carbon Monoxide and Hydrogen.]  German Patent Appl. R 110,169, R 574, filed May 23, 1941 (Cl. IV d-12 o).  TOM Reel 36, bag 3,454, item 36, 3 pp.: Meyer Transl. PC-S-II, Fischer-Tropsch, vol. 2, chap. 78, 1948, p. 8.

In catalytically converting a CO-H2 mixture to aliphatic hydrocarbons which are liquid under normal conditions, the operation is first carried out with the raw gases containing CO2.  The CO2 is removed by known means after a sufficient concentration is obtained following repeated utilization of the raw gas for the stated reaction and separation of the reaction products.  The CO in the residual gas freed  from the CO2 is further used in carrying out the hydrogenation reaction.  By this means the yield of useful product per volume unit of useful gas is very much increased.  The raw gas mixture with a CO2 content of 14%, gave 82.7 gm. of useful products per m.3 of useful gas, whereas the residual gas, obtained thereby and having a CO2 content of 26%, gave 94.8 gm. of useful product per m.3 of useful gas.
