Hydrocarbons obtained from water gas by the Fischer-Tropsch process b. above 150º and preferably above 280º are condensed with AlCl3.  It is advantageous to make use of oils that have been obtained by working with Co catalysts with a high content of inert material and with recycling of a synthesis gas with a ratio of fresh gas to recycle gas of 1 : 3 or 1 : 5.  The lubricating oil has a very low viscosity pole height, 1.75-1.48, and a very low congealing point, about -30º.
