2958. ----- [RUHRCHEMIE, A. G.]  Lubricating Oils.  British Patent 504,350. Apr. 19, 1939; Appl. filed Oct. 19, 1937.  Chem. Abs., vol. 33, 1939, p. 7556.

Lubricating oils are produced by the action of condensing agents such as AlCl2 on olefinic benzines obtained by cracking at 450°-550° and about 4-12 atm. hydrocarbons obtained by the Fischer-Tropsch synthesis and boiling above 150°.  The fractions of which benzines having a boiling range fo 10% correspond within 1% to a given density curve.  The necessary density values for fractions of mean boiling temperatures of 50°-220° are given and vary from 0.6510 to 0.7555.  The cracked benzines are used without separation of any intermediate fraction, although the lower and upper boiling limits may vary.  The cracking is preferably effected at 460°-510° and 6-8 atm. for 3-15 min.
