2763. REISINGER, — , WENZEL, —, AND WINTZER, —. (I. G. Farbenindustrie A. G.). [Process for Converting Carbon Monoxide With Hydrogen.] German Patent Appl. I 70,282, OZ 12,948, filed Aug. 20, 1941 (Cl. IV d-12 o). TOM Reel 19, item 136, frames 1,596-1,607; Meyer Transl. PC-S-II, Fischer-Tropsch, vol. 2, ch. 100, 1948, p. 77.

Catalytic conversion of CO with H2 to oxygenated organic products and hydrocarbons is carried out at moderately increased temperatures in the presence of multibranched hydrocarbons, such as those obtained by the cracking of kogasin or by the extraction of the high-boiling fraction of the synthesis product. The yield of oxygenated compounds can be greatly increased by adding olefins to the mixture. They appear to enter into indirect reaction with the CO. When operating by stages, only the higher boiling fractions are removed from the reaction mixture of the preceding step, and the unconverted gases, together with the low-boiling fractions, are conducted to the next step. The hydrocarbons with 3 and 4 C’s and the benzine hydrocarbons are left in the gas for further treatment.
