Method for producing synthesis gas consists of preheating H₂O vapor, CO₂, and CH₄ in the presence of a catalyst, and then conducting the hot gas mixture thus formed to a combustion zone where O₂ and more CH₄ are added so as to achieve a high enough temperature to cause a substantially complete conversion of CH₄ and CO₂ to H₂ and CO. 6 United States patents cited.
