2754. REED, R. M. (Girdler Corp.). Method and Apparatus for Removing Carbon Monoxide From Gaseous Mixtures. United States Patent 2,487,981, Nov. 15, 1949; appl. filed Apr. 19, 1946, Serial No. 663,354; 6 claims (Cl. 23-213).

Gaseous mixture is treated with steam at a high temperature to convert part of the CO to CO2. The CO2 is removed at low temperature. A 2d high temperature stage converts additional CO to CO2. The process may be used for complete removal of CO or for preparation of a synthesis gas from a mixture high in CO for gasoline or methanol synthesis. 1 foreign patent and 2 United States patents cited.
