In the catalytic manufacture of MeOH and other oxygenated organic compounds from H2 and oxides of C, undesired byreactions, such as the formation of CH4 and the consequent overheating of the catalyst, are avoided by injecting the liquid reaction product or a constituent thereof directly into the contact mass continuously or from time to time.
