2591. PATART, G. Alcohols. Canadian Patent 273,983, Sept. 20, 1927. Chem. Abs., vol. 21, 1927, p. 3908.

Method for the synthetic production of higher molecular organic compounds containing O consists in reducing CO by H2 in the presence of a catalyzer and under high pressure. The products thus obtained are condensed, and the MeOH and other compounds having a lighter molecular weight than the higher compounds to be produced are separated from the condensates. The MeOH and other compounds are again subjected to a catalytic reduction under high pressure.
