Catalyst for chemical reactions in which oxides of C participate contain ZnO prepared by heating to decomposition organic salts of Zn, the freezing point of which are below decomposition point. Thus, the ZnO may be prepared by decomposition of Zn(OAc)₂ and may be used for the preparation of MeOH.
