2228. ------. [METALLGESELLSCHAFT A. G.]. [Catalyst Furnace.] German Patent Appl. M 151,275, PA 467,032, filed June 27, 1941 (Cl. IV d-12 o). FIAT Reel B-196, frames 298-302; PB 83,253.

In operating a catalyst furnace in which exothermic reactions at temp. 220°-400° are carried out and in which the catalyst is kept at a constant temperature by means of closely lying elements cooled by boiling liquids, naphthalene or its hydrogenation products is used as the cooling medium, especially with Fe catalysts operating under pressures of 3-30 atm. The naphthalene should be free from phenols, cresols, coumarone, indene, or the like, but may contain organic cyclic compounds of S such as thionaphthene.
