2216. ------. [MERCIER, J.] Hydrocarbons From Carbon Monoxide and Hydrogen. Canadian Patent 299,868, May 6, 1930. Chem. Zentralb., 1933, I, p. 4520.

CO and H2 are heated at about 500° C. and expanded and cooled simultaneously to 180°-300° C. without transition. Steam is present and H2 is produced from it. Metals of the Fe group in granules or carriers such as Al2O3, CaO, MgO or as sulfides are used as catalyst. The heavy hydrocarbons separated are reheated with a mixture of CO and H2, and the same cycle of treatment is used.
