2202. MCGRATH, H. G., HILL, L. R., JEWELL, J. W., AND JOHNSON, W. B. (M. W. Kellogg Co.). Hydrogenation of Carbon Oxides. British Patent 656,560, Aug. 29, 1951. Fuel Abs., 1951, abs. 4,057; Chem. Abs., vol. 47, 1953, p. 2193.

Gaseous mixture comprising H2 and CO or CO2 is contacted at a velocity of at least 5 ft. per sec. with a powdered hydrogenating catalyst of such size that the catalyst is moved in the direction of flow of the gaseous mixture in a relatively dilute condition. All of the catalyst particles are continuously moved in the direction of flow of the gases through the reaction zone by entrainment in contrast to being held in suspension in a pseudo-liquid dense phase of solids.
