2198. ------. [MCGRATH, H. G., AND RUBIN, L. C.] (M. W. Kellogg Co.). Synthesis of Organic Compounds. United States Patent 2,580,116, Dec. 25, 1951; appl. filed Dec. 27, 1948, Serial No. 67,391; 12 claims (Cl. 260-449.6).

Presents details of a Fischer-Tropsch synthesis process, which is carried out in the presence of a finely divided, alkali-containing, reduced Fe catalyst containing not more than a minor proportion by weight of material having a particle size greater than 250μ.

The feed mixture of H2-CO-CO2 is passed upward through the catalyst at enough velocity to suspend it in the gases in a dense, fluidized condition.
