2168. MAYER, I., AND JOHNSON, V. C. (Standard Oil Development Co.). Hydrocarbon Synthesis. United States Patent 2,642,448, June 16, 1953. Chem. Abs., vol. 47, 1953, p. 8996.

Improvements in the Fischer-Tropsch synthesis of hydrocarbons with high yields of desired products are obtained by charging a mixture of CO and H2 to a reaction zone containing a fluidized bed of powdered Fe catalyst having an average particle size of 30-50 μ. The average particle size can be maintained by appropriate changes in operating variables, catalyst replacement rate, and particle size of catalyst added.
