2148. ------. [MARTIN, H. Z.] (Standard Oil Development Co.). Removal of Carbon Dioxide From Hydrocarbon-Synthesis Tail Gas. United States Patent 2,615,909, Oct. 28, 1952. Chem. Abs., vol. 47, 1953, p. 1373.

Synthesis gas is passed through a stripper tower containing a rich solution of CO2 in a liquid scrubbing medium, for example, an ethanolamine, aminopropanol, Na2CO3, or NaHCO3, and then the CO2-rich gas is sent to the synthesis plant. The CO2-containing tail gases from the synthesis-plant recovery system are passed to an absorption tower where they are brought into contact with stripped liquid absorber from the stripping. The CO2-stripped gases are discharged from the top of the absorption tower, and the gas containing CO2 is recycled to the synthesis plant.
