2147. ------. [MARTIN, H. Z.] (Standard Oil Development Co.). Fluidized Hydrocarbon Synthesis Process. United States Patent 2,530,977, Nov. 21, 1950; appl. filed Dec. 29, 1945, Serial No. 638,421; 17 claims (Cl. 260-449.6). Chem. Abs., vol. 45, 1951, p. 1751.

Method is given for controlling ration of consumption of reactants in Fischer-Tropsch synthesis using fluid solids technique. H2O adsorbent material, such as silica gel, alumina, activated alumina, superfiltrol, Ca chloride, is added to the conventional catalyst to remove the H2O vapor from the gas phase in the reaction zone. H2 : CO consumption ratio may be kept equal to the ratio in any fresh feed gas containing > 0.7 vol. H2 per volume CO. The amount of adsorbent is preferably 20-50% by weight of the catalyst. The H2O is removed by blowing the absorbent with dry nonoxidizing gas, such as natural gas, H2, flue gas, CO2 or weakly reactive synthesis gas mixtures, at 500°-700° F., the temperature depending on the amount of H2O to be removed and the pressure applied. 1 foreign patent and 7 United States patents cited.
