2140. MARTIN, F., AND TRAMM, H. (Alien Property Custodian). Synthetic Motor Fuel. United States Patent 2,368,939, Feb. 6, 1945; appl. filed Jan. 22, 1936; in Germany, Jan. 28, 1935 (Cl. 196-50). Chem. Abs., vol. 39, 1945, p. 4443.

Hydrocarbon mixture resulting from hydrogenation of oxides of C is fractionated, and the fraction b. >110° is passed into an autoclave to which about 20% by vol. of an ash-free coal tar is added. This mixture is heated to about 430°-450° at about 60 atm. pressure for a few minutes or for several hours. The resulting material is fractionated into a gaseous fraction, a motor-fuel fraction and a fraction b. >200° is recycled into the autoclave for further treatment. 25% gases and 50% high-antiknocking motor fuel having an octane no. of 75 are obtained based on the hydrocarbon charge to the autoclave.
