Mixture of alkali soap and concentrated aqueous solutions of alkali salts of mineral acids is treated with a concentrated mineral acid, preferably the same as in the mixture, dissolved preferably in an alkali solution, preferably the same as in the mixture. The fatty acid and the alkali salt are separated without evaporating the aqueous solution. The mother liquor is used for dissolving further quantities of alkali soap.
