2043. LEWIS, W. K., AND GILLILAND, E. R. (Standard Oil Development Co.). Control Method in Reactions Between Hydrocarbons and Metal Oxides. United States Patent 2,603,608, July 15, 1952; appl. filed Nov. 29, 1950, Serial No. 198,144; 12 claims (Cl. 252-373). Chem. Abs., vol. 46, 1952, p. 9829.

Present method for controlling a CH4 re-forming operation wherein it is desired to produce a suitable hydrocarbon synthesis gas. The metal oxide used as catalyst of the conversion is CuO on silica gel at a temperature 2,000°-2,400° F. Control of the reformer gas composition is closely related to the CO2 content of the gas stream.
