In various processes such as MeOH synthesis or conversion of iso-Pr alcohol into acetone, mixtures of basic and acidic oxides (with the latter in excess) are used, prepared either by admixture or by igniting compounds, such as basic ZnNH4 chromate, with or without small additions of alkali metal compounds, such as sulfates, phosphates, chromates, hydroxides, carbonates, metallates, or organic salts.
