1991. ------. [LANDGRAF, A., AND ROELEN, O.] Oxygen-Containing Derivatives of Aliphatic Hydrocarbons. United States Patent 2,415,102, Feb. 4, 1947. Chem. Abs., vol. 41, 1947, p. 3116.

Mixtures of C10-C19 alkenes are separated into C10-C12, b. 165°-220°, C13-C14, b. 220°-255°, C15-C16, b. 255°-295°, and C17-C19 b. 295°-330°, fractions, and each fraction is converted, catalytically, with CO and H2, to the aldehyde. These aldehydes, or the alcohols or acids derived from them, are readily separable by distillation into pure compounds iso-AmOH, b. 130°, and see-AmOH, b. 113°, were obtained from isobutylene. 1-Butene gave AmOH, b. 138°.
