In the catalytic conversion of CH4-containing gases with steam and CO2 at about 925°, a part of the synthesis gas is passed over an Fe oxide catalyst with steam at about 500°, the CO2 separated from the H2 and together with fresh steam added to the CH4-containing initial gas, the H2 being used to heat the catalyst and the steam.
