1947. ------. [KRAUCH, C., HOCHSCHWENDER, K., AND SCHUNCK, W.] (I. G. Farbenindustrie A. G.). Oxygenated Organic Compounds From Carbon Oxides and Hydrogen. United States Patent 1,889,251, Nov. 29, 1932; appl. filed May 22, 1924, Serial No. 715,191. Chem. Abs., vol. 27, 1933, p. 1359.

Gaseous mixture such as may be formed mainly of CO and H2 is passed, at elevated temperature and pressure, over a catalyst such as one prepared from ZnO and K3Cr2O7 by reduction with H2 capable of inducing formation of MeOH, at a velocity so much < that required for substantially pure MeOH production that substantially all the MeOH formed is converted into higher oxygenated compounds such as higher alcohols and aldehydes.
