1946. KRAUCH, C., HOCHSCHWENDER, K., AND SCHUNCK, W. (I. G. Farbenindustrie A. G.). [Oily Products.] German Patent 553,785, May 23, 1923. Chem. Abs., vol. 26, 1932, p. 5713.

Oily products consisting chiefly of oxygenated organic substances such as higher alcohols and aldehydes, together with MeOH, are obtained by leading a mixture of H2 and oxides of C, in which the ratio of H2 to oxide is at least 2:1, over a contact mass at high temperature and pressure. The contact mass contains no Fe, Ni or Cr, or only very small quantities of these. Examples mention catalysts of ZnO in fused K2Cr2O7 and CuO with PbO.
