This is an addition to German Patent Appl. I 63,778 (abs. 1490). The method of reacting CO with H₂ in the presence of Co catalysts is further developed. The process works in the presence of catalysts that contain Co and possibly Fe and/or Ni at a pressure well above 2 atm. The catalysts are produced by very gradual precipitation to reduce Co compounds from Co salt solutions while maintaining a precipitation time of > 3 hr.
