Process for the manufacture of hydrocarbons from gases containing CO and H2, such as coke water gas at normal, higher, and lower pressure, by means of catalysts of the Fe group comprising the flow of the synthesis gas 1st of all over an Fe catalyst, then the removal of the hydrocarbons produced from the gas treated, further treating the gas being led over the Fe catalyst in the presence of a Co or Ni catalyst for the production of additional hydrocarbons, and finally separating from the gas the hydrocarbons formed.
