1909. KÖLBEL, H., AND ENGELHARDT, F. (Steinkohlen-Bergwerk "Rheinpreussen"). [Hydrocarbons.] German Patent 802,876, June 14, 1951; appl. Filed Oct. 2, 1948 (Cl. 12 o). Chem. Zentralb., 1951, II, p. 3540.

Hydrocarbons are obtained in better yield from CO and H2 in the gas phase on Fe catalysts under normal or increased pressure by continuously reversing the direction of flow of the synthesis gases over the catalyst each ¼ hr. or more (1-3 hr.). The flow periods are preferably set up at the beginning in short ¼-hr. periods and then extended during the course of the synthesis to several hr.
