In maintaining the activity and selectivity of a fluidized Fe catalyst having a relatively minor alkali content as promoter, the latter is supplemented periodically by injecting a solution of an alkali metal compound, preferably K2CO3, directly onto the fluidized catalyst thereby restoring its selectivity and activity for the production of normally liquid hydrocarbons.
