1822.  ------. [KEITH, P. C.] Synthesis of Hydrocarbons from Carbon Monoxide and Hydrogen. United States Patent 2,234,941, Mar. 11, 1941; appl. filed May 18, 1938, Serial No. 208,588; 7 claims (Cl. 260-449). Chem. Abs., vol. 35, 1941, p. 4183.

Describes arrangement of apparatus and a process which involves the steps of oxidizing a mixture of CH4 and CO2 to produce a CO-H2 mixture having a ratio 1:1, synthesizing the CO mixture in the presence of a hydrogenation catalyst at temperature of approximately 200º, separating the liquid and unreacted gas resulting from the synthesis, oxidizing the CO contained in a portion of the unreacted gas in a 2d oxidizing step, removing CO2 and recycling another portion of the unreacted gas to be recharged with the CH4 and CO2 , to the initial oxidizing step. The CO2 is that which was removed from the 2d oxidizing step.
