Mineral oils, coal, peat, extraction, and hydrogenation products synthesized hydrocarbons are catalytically cracked in the liquid phase with the aid of finely subdivided catalysts, such as oxides or silicates of metals of the 2d, 3d, and 8th groups of the Periodic Table. The rate of flow of the cracking material is kept at 20-40 kg. per 1. per hr. The temperature is kept at > 460º, preferably at 480º-520º.
