1775.  ------. [JOHNSON, C.E.] (Standard Oil Co.of Indiana). Separation of Organic Oxygenated Compounds From Hydrocarbons.  United States Patent 2,535,069, Dec. 26, 1950; appl. filed Aug. 12, 1948, Serial no. 43,888; 11 claims (Cl. 260-450).

In simple form the process is described by application to a charging stock made up of an organic, oxygenated compound and a hydrocarbon.  The mixture is concurrently contacted with an aqueous extractant solution initially containing in excess of 30%, by weight, of the defined class of solubilizer salts, preferably 40-60%.  Spaced injection of H2O to the extraction zone is contacted last with concentrated extractant solution so that maximum extraction is effected.  The aqueous extract leaving the extraction zone contains a reduced concentration of solubilizer salts so that the % of hydrocarbon contaminant is minimized.  4 United States patents cited.
