1709. ------. [INTERNATIONAL HYDROCARBON SYNTHESIS CO.] [Synthesis of Hydrocarbons From Carbon Monoxide and Hydrogen.] French Patent 854,402. April 15, 1940; appl. filed May 6, 1939. Chem. Zentralb., 1940, II, p. 2987.

Life of catalysts can be prolonged by heating the synthesis gas beforehand > 800° , preferably 1,000° -1,250° for 0.5-1 sec., and at the same time freeing it from H2S formed by the decomposition of the organic S compounds. Harmful resins are destroyed at the same time. The heating takes place in heat exchangers with CaO, dolomite, or bauxite packing. The synthesis gas consists of gas from the gasification of brown coal or from the transformation of natural or refinery gases with steam.
