1697. ------. [INTERNATIONAL HYDROCARBON SYNTHESIS CO.] [Production of Diesel Oil by Hydrocarbon Synthesis From Carbon Monoxide and Hydrogen.] Italian Patent 389,201, June 24, 1941. Chem. Zentralb., 1943, I, p. 590.

Synthesis is carried out in a liquid medium, a part of which is withdrawn and freed from the organic acids which have formed by washing with alkali solution such as KOH, and then returned to the process. By this means a substantially larger proportion of diesel oil is obtained. Example: The synthesis is carried out over a catalyst of Co, ThO2, MgO, and kieselguhr under 11 atm. pressure and at 190°, with a throughput of 1-4 m.3 of gas per kg. Co per hr. The reaction product contains about 80% of diesel oil.
