1679. ------. [INTERNATIONAL HYDROCARBON SYNTHESIS CO.] Hydrocarbons From Carbon Monoxide.] Netherlands Patent 58,695, Dec. 16, 1946. Chem. Abs., vol. 41, 1947, p. 4910.

Since Fe catalysts and, for example, Co catalysts give different results, a mixture of separately precipitated and granulated catalysts was tried; for example, a Co catalyst of Co 46 and ThO2 3 and MgO 5 gm., precipitated from the nitrates with K2CO3 on diatomaceous earth, is granulated (3-5 mm.) and reduced. 10 vol. thereof are mixed with 90 vol. of a granulated and reduced molten Fe catalyst with additions of 6% SiO2+Al2O3+Mn3O4. The yield in hydrocarbons was 114 gm. liquid and solid hydrocarbons for a normal m.3 gas in 1 stage and 15 gm. C3 and C4 hydrocarbons. The temperature of reaction is about 200° . An Fe catalyst requires 300° and under similar circumstances gives only 70 gm. liquid and solid hydrocarbons.
