1678. ------. [INTERNATIONAL HYDROCARBON SYNTHESIS CO.] Hydrocarbons Containing More Than One Carbon Atom. British Patent 536,767, May 27, 1941; appl. filed Nov. 22, 1939. Chem. Abs., vol. 36, 1942, p. 1759.

Hydrogenation of CO is effected in presence of catalysts comprising diatomaceous earth as a carrier. The latter is obtained by leaching crude diatomaceous earth with acids which b. 120° or below, washing, drying, and freeing the diatomaceous earth from organic substances by calcination at temperatures at which a sintering of the earth does not yet take place.
