1672. ------. [INTERNATIONAL HYDROCARBON SYNTHESIS CO.] [Hydrocarbon Synthesis From Carbon Monoxide and Hydrogen.] Italian Patent 390,152, July 30, 1941. Oel u. Kohle, vol. 39, 1943, Sch. 192. Chem. Zentralb., 1943, I, p. 589.

Operation is carried out in the presence of Fe or Co catalysts suspended in a liquid medium. The synthesis gas is a CO-rich water gas, which is recycled through the converter, ratio of fresh gas to recycle gas 1 : 2 or 1 : 3. Following are the reaction conditions: Catalyst, 100 parts Fe, 5 Cu, 10 CaO, 100 kieselguhr; temperature, 240°-250°; pressure, 10 atm.; throughput, 1,000 1. fresh gas and 2,500 recycle gas per hr.; 10 1. 50% catalyst suspension; fresh gas, 38% CO and 48 % H2; 100-120 gm. hydrocarbons per m.3 fresh gas are obtained. The hydrocarbons consist of 20% benzine, 50-65% soluble in H2SO4, 50% middle oil, b. 200°-320°, and 20% b. above 320°, of which 40-50% is olefins.
