1632.  INSTITUTION OF GAS ENGINEERS.  Combustible Gas.  British Patent 528,338.  Oct. 28. 1940.  Chem. Abs., vol. 35. 1941. p. 7689.

Carbonaceous fuel is gasified by the action of O2 and steam under pressure with a high rate of gasification so as to produce a gas consisting mainly of H2 and CO.  CO and H2, thus produced, are caused to react to form CH4 while the gas is still under pressure.  Heat evolved by this reaction is used to preheat steam under pressure to be used for the gasification.
