      1614.  ------.  [I. G. FARBENINDUSTRIE, A. G.]  [Working Up the Products of a Carbon Monoxide-Hydrogen Conversion.]  German Patent Appl. I 73,341.  OZ 13,710. filed Oct. 10. 1942 (Cl. IV d-12 o.)  FIAT Reel 170. frames 9,177-9,185: PB 64,181: Meyer Transl. PC-S-II. Fischer-Tropsch, vol. 6. chap. 177. 1949. p. 40.

In a process for working up the conversion products of CO and H2, especially those that contain both multibranched and liquid or solid oxygenated hydrocarbons, the products are separated into fractions of different boiling points by a series of distillations, the 1st at normal pressure, the next at diminished pressure, and the 3rd a steam distillation under diminished pressure.  The material is kept in brisk circulation and in at least 1 spot in the evaporation is introduced in a very thin layer or in a state of fine division.  Vacuum distillation may not be introduced until the distillate has a drop point of at least 50º and preferably 70º.
