      1613.  ------.  [I. G. FARBENINDUSTRIE, A. G.]  [Working Up the Higher Compounds Obtained by the Catalytic Hydrogenation of Carbon Oxides.]  French Patent 628,107. Oct. 19. 1927: appl. filed Jan. 26, 1927.  Chem. Zentralb., 1928. I. p. 752.

Three methods are available: (1) Oxidation of the higher alcohols to aldehydes, treating with bisulfite, separating the aldehydes and reducing to alcohols or by further oxidation to acids: (2) separating by means of H2O-free MgCl2, CaCl2 as molecular compounds, separating with benzine and decomposing with H2O: (3) treating with dilute H2SO4 or HCl.  Gives examples of each method.
