      1599.  ------.  [I. G. FARBENINDUSTRIE, A. G.]  [Synthetic Hydrocarbons.]  French Patent 48,739.  June 21. 1938.  Chem. Abs., vol. 33. 1939, p. 5001.

In converting CO and H2 to hydrocarbons or their derivatives containing O, the catalysts used are prepared by precipitating metals of the Fe group as compounds reducible to metals by heating with H2, adding compounds that are difficult to reduce to metals, treating the mixture preferably in the presence of reducing gases to a temperature at which at least partial concretion takes place.  Thus Fe Hydroxide is precipitated, mixed with a mud of Al2O2, the mixture is dried and heated in H2 to 850º.
