      1556.  ------.  [I. G. FARBENINDUSTRIE, A. G.]  [Separating the Products of the Fischer-Tropsch Synthesis.]  German Patent Appl. I 73,500.  OZ 13,757; filed Nov. 3, 1942 (Cl. IV d-12 o).  FIAT Reel 168, frames 7,615-7,625; PB 68,600:  Meyer Transl. PC-S-II, Fischer-Tropsch, vol. 6. chap. 171. 1949. p. 21.

Describes process and apparatus for the stepwise cooling of the reaction gases and the separation of the condensable products.  The temperature is so regulated in successive tube cooler that the liquid hydrocarbon products are removed in order of their molecular weights, the final low-boiling constituents being adsorbed on charcoal in the last vessel.  It is specified that in at least 1 of the cooling steps the gas is passed in the direction opposite to the flow of the outgoing liquid products, preferably in intimate contact with them, and the temperature of the liquid products leaving the cooling step is kept considerably higher than that of the gas.
