      1551.  ------.  [I. G. FARBENINDUSTRIE, A. G.]  [Separating Alcohols and the Like From Mixtures With Hydrocarbons.]  German Patent Appl. I 78,911. no date (Cl. 12 o-5.02).  Auszüge deut.  Patent-Anmeldungen, vol. 6, p. 248.

Alcohols, ketones, esters, and amines are separated from their mixture with hydrocarbons, particularly from those obtained by hydrogenation of CO, by adsorption on active gel by treating the gel after the adsorption operation with limited amounts of a H2O-soluble organic solvent in which the adsorbed compounds are soluble and then displacing them in gel by means of H2O or a mixture of H2O and an organic liquid in which the adsorbed substance is insoluble.
