            Pure alcohols are obtained from aqueous solutions or mixtures of aliphatic alcohols containing carbonyl compounds as impurities by treatment with primary amines in the liquid phase under increase pressure at a temperature appreciably > the boiling point of the alcohols to be purified.  Isohexylamine, isoheptylamine, isooctylamine, and dodecylamine may be used.  Gives examples of the preparation of pure MeOH and PrOH from the crude products obtained synthetically from CO.
